Effect of two animal protein-free extenders on cryopreservation of Pelibuey and Blackbelly ram semen

The study evaluated the effect of two animal protein-free extenders on ram semen cryopreservation tropical hair breeds. ejaculates were collected from 8 rams (4 Blackbelly and 4 Pelibuey), which mixed (pooled) by breed, diluted cryopreserved in three different extenders: Animal protein [Tris egg yolk (Triladyl®)], AndroMed® (lecithin soy bean) OPTIXcell® (liposome). Sperm analyses total (TM) progressive (PM) motility, viability, mitochondrial activity, acrosome integrity, plasma membrane integrity (PMI) carried out at 0 6 h after thawing. Triladyl® showed similar results between them differed with TM, PM, PMI (P<0.0017). In TM was higher (P<0.0159) than AndroMed®. Pelibuey (P<0.0140). However, a percentage sperm intact (P<0.0392). both breeds, spermatic parameters decreased progressively over incubation time similarly all extenders. conclusion, proved to be best cryopreserve semen. is an extender that decreases risk bacterial contamination, whereas composed (egg yolk), may impact fertilizing capacity sperm.
